Higher education is essential for people as well as economic development. The Department of Education with help from other governments departments and private organizations looks after the training of the adult people. Training to adult people is provided through workshops or seminars either on the Capital or on the outer islands. Health and Nutrition, Home Management, Community and Life skills including Art and Craft are some of the activities that have been included into adult education programs.  

The Tuvalu Technical Education Center provides training in the areas like Secretarial skills including typing, computing and office skills, Carpentry, Plumbing, Engineering, Home Economics i.e. sewing and cooking etc. These programs prepare students for work place. Throughout the country, the Department of Education administers the basic education; and sometimes churches also help to promote adult education in the country.
