Education in Curacao
Curacao is an island situated to the south of Caribbean Sea. It is constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and one of the island territories of former Netherlands Antilles. Furthermore, Curacao experiences a tropical savannah climate. January to September has a dry season and October to December has a wet season.
The Education System of Curacao is modeled on Dutch Education System. Curacao offers education in public schools, private schools and parochial schools. Adding to this, primary education is compulsory from the age of 6 with duration of 6 years. This is followed by 5 years of secondary education.
The main institute of higher education is the University of Curacao. Other higher education options are offshore medical schools, language schools and academies for fine art, music, police, teacher and nurse-training etc.
